MAHADEV RESIDENCE
Mahadev Residence
Built-up : 6500 sft
Project Status : Ongoing
Location: Malleshwaram, Bangalore
This mixed-use project seamlessly integrates residential living for an older couple
with commercial office space and social entertainment areas within a four-storey
structure.
The building combines smooth concrete, natural timber cladding, and perforated metal screens to create a layered facade with visual depth. Timber louvers control sunlight and add warmth against the concrete surfaces, while decorative metal screens cast changing shadow patterns throughout the day. The ground-level garage features horizontal timber slats, and upper floors step back progressively to reduce the building’s visual mass.
The building is organized vertically with an entry and garage at ground level, private living spaces for the couple on middle floors, a dedicated office with separate access for commercial use, and a rooftop terrace designed for entertaining and social gatherings.
The design showcases natural materials, exposed concrete, vertical timber panels, and perforated metal screening, that create layered transparency. Concrete overhangs provide shade while adding sculptural interest. Timber railings and gates share consistent ribbed detailing throughout. Planter boxes with climbing plants soften the architecture at ground level and along terrace edges.
The Rooftop terrace functions as an elevated social space with partial coverage from metal pergolas. It accommodates parties and gatherings while maintaining views of the surrounding area. Planters with climbing vines define the space without enclosing it, creating a semi-private outdoor living area.
The facade employs three layers, clear glass for views, timber louvers & concrete jaali walls for filtered light, and perforated screens for privacy, allowing the home to open up or close off as needed while maintaining visual interest from the street.
